Glyoxal Resins

Introduction of Glyoxal Resins

Affinity chromatography (AC) is a chromatographic technique designed using the specific affinity between biomolecules, which can quickly and efficiently separate biomacromolecules. By immobilizing one of the two molecules with affinity on an insoluble matrix, the other molecule is separated and purified by utilizing the specificity and reversibility of the intermolecular affinity.

Different matrices for AC include polyacrylamide, dextran/polystyrene, and agarose, among which agarose is the most widely used. Glyoxal resin allows the covalent attachment of agarose to lysine amino groups in the AC technique. The resin has a large number of aldehyde groups, which provides a very good choice for the conjugation of affinity ligands, thus improving the stability of the ligands.
