Introduction of Magnetic Beads

With the rapid development of the biological industry in recent years, protein purification is a key step in scientific research. Compared with the traditional chromatography method, a new method for high-throughput protein purification has recently been introduced - the magnetic beads (MBs) purification method. MBs are versatile tools for the purification, detection, and quantification of analytes in complex matrices in biological experiments and scientific research. The superparamagnetism of MB makes it suitable for various analytical applications, especially for proteins. The principle is to use the affinity groups on the surface of MBs to specifically bind the target protein to achieve selective enrichment of the target protein.

At present, MBs commonly used in laboratories are mainly combined with His tags, glutathione S-transferase tags, and Fc tags to achieve selective enrichment of different proteins.
