A metabolite of Nitrofuran. Nitrofurans (nitrofurazone, nitrofurantoin, furazolidone and Furaltadone) are furan-based synthetic antibacterial agents and may be used for treatment of bacterial infection as veterinary drugs, though use for food animals has been banned in many countries.
