Mass Spec Grade rLys-C is a recombinant endopeptidase designed to specifically target the C-terminal side of lysine residues. It is highly effective for the digestion of resilient or tightly folded proteins, as it retains robust catalytic activity even in denaturing environments, such as 8 M urea solutions.
Physical Appearance
Lyophilized powder
Molecular Weight
27 kDa
Resuspension Buffer
The resuspension medium for rLys C consists of 50 mM acetic acid.
Storage
Maintain powder at –20 °C and store the prepared enzyme solution at –80 °C.
Shelf life
Store at -20 ℃ for up to 24 months.
Stability
rLys-C exhibits optimal performance at pH 8.0; exposure to pH 3.0 results in reversible loss of activity.
Usage Notes
Dissolve MS-grade rLys-C in the provided buffer for peak activity. Pre-treatment with 50 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8.0) containing 6–8 M urea is advised for protein denaturation. Integrate rLys-C into the sample at a 25:1 (protein:protease) weight ratio. Digestion should be carried out at 37 °C for 3 to 4 hours after mixing.
