IEC is a highly effective biomolecule separation technique based on charge interactions. The medium consists of a cross-linked porous, hydrophilic matrix, functional groups, and counter-ions. XL Big Beads media couple linear dextran onto large, highly cross-linked agarose particles, then functional groups onto dextran, reducing steric hindrance and increasing binding capacity. The large particle matrix tolerates poorly clarified samples, resists clogging, and allows high flow rates for large-volume processing. Extra Large Beads is a strong anion exchanger suitable for large-scale biomolecule capture with high capacity and flow rate.
