Ion Exchange Chromatography

Introduction of Ion Exchange Chromatography

Ion exchange chromatography (IEC) is the earliest application of liquid chromatography (LC). IEC utilizes the difference in the ability of ion exchange between the components being separated and the stationary phase to achieve separation. It is especially suitable for the separation of nucleic acids, nucleosides, bases, peptides, amino acids, carbohydrates, etc., so it has become a very effective means of analysis, detection and separation, and purification in related fields.

Principle of IEC

The ion exchange resin is used as the stationary phase to fill the chromatographic separation column, and the eluent is used as the mobile phase for elution. The resins have different affinities, so they move at different speeds on the chromatographic column and flow out sequentially from the other end of the column with the eluent to achieve the purpose of component separation.

Outstanding Advantages of Our IEC Products

  • Open support framework, rapid diffusion of macromolecules, and large adsorption capacity
  • High hydrophilicity, simple elution, and stable protein and enzyme activity
  • Porosity, large surface area, large exchange capacity, and high recovery
  • Wide applicability, high capacity, simplicity, and high resolution

This technique is mainly used for the separation and purification of charged biomolecules.

Application of Our IEC Products

  • Biochemical and clinical biochemical tests (separation and purification of blood components such as albumin, recombinant growth factors, and enzymes)
  • Genomics and pathology applications (separation of nucleic acids, nucleotides, amino acids, etc.)
  • Analytical applications in biotechnology (quality control and process monitoring)
  • Food and clinical research
  • Water treatment
  • Monitoring the fermentation process
